May 2, 2015—Liam might call this one of the greatest days in sports history. The Kentucky Derby, NHL Playoffs featuring Rangers vs. Capitals, and, of course, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao all took place that day. He spent it in the city with friends, completely unaware of what was about to unfold.

Meanwhile, Mary had no idea my night was about to take an unexpected turn. Mary's friend Christina invited her into the city, saying, "Come hang out with my brother and his friends." When she walked into the apartment, she quickly met Liam in passing before heading to dinner. Later, they all reunited at The Ainsworth to watch the fight. Mary's friend reintroduced me to Liam, and they spent most of the night talking. The night ended at a McDonald's, with Liam staring at his cracked iPhone, muttering, "My mom’s going to kill me."

The next afternoon, Mary's friend had planned a picnic in Sheeps Bay. It was a warm and beautiful spring day, complete with rosé and a charcuterie board. As Mary looked up, she saw him—the boy from the night before—walking toward us, still in the same clothes. Liam sat quietly on the grass behind us, barely saying a word. She assumed he wasn’t interested and figured she'd never see him again.

Spring turned to summer, and Mary and Liam spent many weekends at their friends' shore houses in Normandy and Ortley Beach. One evening, as Mary and her friend were making plans, her friend's brother mentioned, "We’re meeting up with the Manleys tonight and heading to Hemingway’s." When they walked in, there Liam was—the boy from fight night—sitting alone at the bar. Mary took a deep breath, gathered her courage, and walked up to him.

Ten years later… here we are, planning our wedding. We can't wait to celebrate with you in one of our favorite date spots, New Hope, PA.
